WESB News: 03/29/08 - Census Data Show Population Decline
McKean County’s population has dropped 5 percent, according to the latest US Census Bureau figures.
The county was one of 38 in the state with a declining population so far this decade, according to the Penn State Data Center, the state's official source for population and economic statistics.
In Potter County, the population is 16,987 as of July 2007, down drastically from the 17,365 figure of July 2006. Warren County had the third-largest drop in the state at 6.6 percent. Venango County's population has dropped by 4.9 percent, or 2,802; and McKean County by 5 percent, or 2,303, the Census Bureau figures show.
One northwestern county is a major exception to the declines. Forest County has had the largest increase of the decade so far at nearly 41 percent, but that is due largely to the construction of a state correctional facility in 2004, the data center said.

Being 70 years old, half blind, no feelings in my fingers, totalily computer illeterate and stupid, I have been have one hell of a time taking an exception to your deer versus population in Potter County. You say a DRASTICALLY drop in populaion, from 06 to 07, 378? less than 4%, come on, what are you bitching about. Enjoy your site very much. Don't know how much longer you can do it.

You are absolutely right Tom. I noticed that last night. Potter County's population loss was just over 2%, much less than McKean or Warren counties, and much less than the decline in the deer population. Whoever wrote this story for WESB was obviously not a math major. Thanks for keeping us straight.
