Rep. Peterson Picks Glenn Thompson In 5th Race

BREAKING NEWS
WESB News: 04/11/08 - Peterson Endorses Glenn Thompson

Congressman John Peterson has endorsed Glenn Thompson, one of 9 Republicans seeking the 5th District Congressional seat that Peterson is vacating.

Peterson says Thompson is the most qualified candidate to succeed him in Congress.

Peterson is retiring after 12 years in Washington. Peterson will be campaigning on Thompson’s behalf and Peterson’s aide, Patrick Creighton, will be taking a leave of absence from the congressman’s office to work on Thompson’s campaign.

Thompson is in his second term as chairman of the Centre County Republican Party.

I am quite dissappointed with the decision that Mr. Peterson has made today. Picking a candidate from Centre County that has not shown his commitment to rural values and to Potter County leaves me very concerned for the future. I was very pleased to see our own commissioners endorse a candidate and one that I will be supporting, Jeff Stroehmann.

Ditto on the last commenter's remarks. I'm with Stroehmann all of the way.

Well, if you are "with Stroehmann" you haven't done your homework. You should ask some important questions that your commissioners failed to ask. First, google Stroehmann and read about his second divorce. After reading about his income you should ask how he calls himself a "successful" businessman. Either he lied to the courts and government about his income, or he is lying to you when he calls himself successful. Also, you should ask how many people were on HIS PAYROLL with his "Earth Moving" business. I'm thinking zero!! You should also ask why he only served one term as township supervisor and how many people from that township are supporting him now ... not many!!! He couldn't even get a second term as Republican Chairman. He is not well liked in Lycoming County.
Mr. Stroehmann may have had help to create his "plan" ... but there is no proof from anything he's done that he will follow the plan or get any job done. I think he's the only canidate without a college degree. He "ATTENDED" Penn College ... job not finished! How 'bout that bus ... what a waste of gas!! Finally, he had a child to another woman while going through his second divorce. Nice family values! Come on commissioners ... think again!

Editor- I'm impressed with your work but surprised that you seem to support Stroehmann. You seem like a man of faith who wouldn't approve of a man divorced twice with a child born to yet another woman. I understand the child's mother had to go to domestic relations to try to get some child support. I don't think he's an honest man. He's a good talker though. He doesn't have a lot of local support! Have you googled him? Did you read what the Judge wrote on his divorce hearing? The Judge IS a very honest, good man! I don't expect you to print this, I just want you to do a little research for your readers. Thank you.

Dear Anonymous,
I have reported as best I could on all of the candidates. Yes I have read the material you mention and I have tried to focus on the positive aspects of the candidates without dragging them through the mud of the anonymous commenters. I would encourage anyone to research as much as possible as I am sure every candidate has skeletons in their closet. As far as this editor supporting any one of these candidates, I will not endorse any one candidate, and I haven't made up my mind which one I will vote for. They are all very talented and I have found each one I have talked with to be very likable. I suspect some of the anonymous comments are from the opposing candidates. Comments are more credible if someone attaches their name to them. Editor

Anonymous shouldn't be an option if you think it's not appropriate. While I have decided on who I will vote for, I don't know any of these men personally. I have read many blogs and agree that some comments probably come from opposing candidates. I remain a big fan of yours and appreciate your views. You give me something to think about often.
