Coudersport Firefighter Laid To Rest

COUDERSPORT — Bruce L. Setzer, 46, of Coudersport, died unexpectedly Thursday (May 15, 2008) in Elma, N.Y. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home in Shinglehouse.

Bruce Setzer, 46, a Coudersport Volunteer Firefighter,
fire truck driver, and former chief who dedicated 31 years
of his life to helping others, was laid to rest Tuesday,
May 20, 2008

Hundreds of friends, family and fellow volunteers from at
least three counties turned out for services to honor the life
of Coudersport Volunteer Fireman Bruce L. Setzer.

Coudersport and Emporium's ladder trucks combine to display
the American Flag in the air over the hearse.

Fellow firemen place Bruce's turnout gear on the front of
the fire truck that he drove.

The fire truck he drove led the procession down Main Street
in Coudersport

Followed by the hearse

And many, many fire trucks from Coudersport,

And other Fire Departments from a three county area.

Mike Healy of Potter County Fire News wrote:
"It is with deep regret that we advise you of the passing of
Bruce Setzer, age 46, of the Coudersport Fire Department.
Bruce had been a long time member of the Coudersport
Fire Department, and served in many different positions,
including chief, assistant chief, and truck captain. He was
very dedicated to the department and a good friend to all
who knew him."

Bruce will be sadly missed. He was a great person. I remember him and my sister dating years ago and Bruce in the fire company with my Dad and John E and Bob. This world needs more people like Bruce, because he cared about helping people. You will be missed.

Thank you for the kind words and coverage regarding our brother, Bruce Setzer's funeral today. When you join the emergency services field, you join a family and it hurts when you lose one. Pray for peace and comforting for his entire family.

Words are just not enough to say how thankful me and my family are. For everyone that has helped us during this difficult time of my fathers passing.
My dad was a great father, friend, and hero. He is missed by so many but will always remain in our hearts and may we always remember all the laughs and great memories we all shared with him.
Once again thank you to all my dads brothers and sisters in all of the surrounding fire departments.

LOVE YOU BIG DADDY!
