Firemen Mopping Up After Fire/ Fire Marshall On Scene

At nearly 3:00 pm Monday afternoon, firemen were still mopping up the remains of two buildings at the C. A. Elliott Lumber Company in Roulette, Potter County, PA.

Several other buildings in the company's complex were saved from damage by firemen who came from as far as Westons Mills, Emporium, Harrison Valley, Galeton, Ulysses, Shinglehouse, Eldred, Eldred Township, Norwich Township, Smethport, Austin, Smethport, Port Allegany and Coudersport.
Fire Marshals from the Pennsylvania State Police had just come on scene and were working their way through the remains, attempting to determine the cause of the 3:00 am fire.

Firemen had brought in an excavator to uncover some areas so the stubborn hot spots could be soaked down with water and foam.

Firemen laid over a mile of 5 inch hoses to water sources in the Allegheny River on West Main Street and a location on River Street. Water was also taken from a pond at the site of the Johnson Gravel pit on West Main, where tankers shuttled water to portable tanks set up in the middle of Main Street.

Some school children got an unscheduled vacation today as school busses were not able to service routes in the western end of Roulette due to hoses being laid in the roads and some residents were unable to go to work or get out of their driveways.
