Anyone know if this person is okay? I went by the accident right after it happened last night. The firemen were just lighting the flares.

The roads were horrible until I hit the NY state border. As usual, from there the roads were clear.

I agree about these road conditions. A PennDot employee had said earlier, "NY state uses pure salt, do you know what that does to your vehicles? You have to keep replacing vehicles."

Well, from my standpoint, I'd rather replace a new car every year. You can't replace a life!!!

That's how I feel too. I've had way too many nerve wracking experiences on PA roads. I always breath a sigh of relief when I get to the NY border.

I would rather they be allowed to use "pure salt" and keep my vehicles rinsed off at the car wash several times a week...better than your vehicle spending time at the body shop or your family spending time at the hospital and or funeral home!

Maybe the "powers that be" need to spend their winter months up here in the hills and not in the cities of PA!

There is nothing wrong with the way the roads are maintained in PA. The people need to just try to drive a little better. When it is below freezing for weeks on end, you can't rinse your car off several times a week and if you could, you still wouldn't get all of the salt. Some people can't afford to get a new car every year. Everyone just needs to "buck up" during the winter and learn how to drive.

Hello, this is the craziest post I've seen in a long time! These roads are ridiculous. I don't think for most of us it has to do with "bucking up" and learning how to drive! Ever meet a semi coming towards you on these roads? You have no choice but to move over that white line, which is horrific in itself. Ever get caught in the huge piles of slush in the middle? Get real! I'd rather rinse my car a few times a week too! I don't care if all the salt doesn't come off or not, and yes, it sure the hell beats going to a funeral home or hospital.

And believe you me the truck drivers feel the same way!

Pretty bad when truck drivers have to "wait" to use the damn roads to do their job, roads they pay a lot of money to use I might add!
And school bus drivers are in the same boat, our roads were a joke this week...all wheel drive vehicle and getting pulled off the road at 35 mph because of slush?

I do not even want to hear "try to drive better". What should we do all stay home or walk to work?

I drove back and forth all week in my pickup truck with no weight in the back and didn't have to use 4 wheel drive until I went onto some dirt roads. Take a good look at your road atlas....you are in snow country people!!! PENNDOT does the best job that they are able to do...what more can you ask for. If you don't feel that it is safe to drive....stay home!

What do we ask for??? Better anti-skid materials!
