Breaking News: Police charge Berwick mother with abandoning newborn
Citizen VoiceThe 23-year-old mother of a newborn was charged early Thursday by Berwick police with abandoning her baby outside a bathroom window in a plastic bag in 17-degree temperatures with the umbilical cord wrapped around the infant's neck to hide the birth from her parents. The infant was treated at Berwick Hospital and Geisinger Medical Center and was placed in protective custody. More....

There is something seriously wrong with a girl(woman) at 23 has to keep such a secret from her parents. I think they have to be investigated thoughly also.
Who would have thought it would have been their own daughter! The mother must have been married at some point in time, because she had a different last name. Why would a 23 year old have to hide a pregnancy from her parents? This is very sad and really strange.
Don't you think that maybe the parents would notice that there pregnant daughter went into the bathroom looking pregnant and came out not looking pregnant?
if you ask me the 23 year old woman should be ashamed , there are too many people in this world that would have adopted the baby and gave the baby a wonderful life. The baby was a gift from God . while she is in jail the tax payers will be keeping her warm, feed and pay her medical bills while the baby suffers from her mothers stupidity. and oh yeah what about the womans parents are they just as much to blame and the baby's father where has he been hiding at?
This situation needs one of the most thorough investigations in CYS history. It needs to involve the parents friends and it needs to see what kind of stand the parents took on pregnancy out of wedlock. It sounds to me like the parents were very religous, and there is nothing wrong with that, but that they would somehow have disdain for their daughter should she not start a family the way they liked. A full investigation of the daughter without scare tactics is neccessary, this girl did wrong but obviously was scared when she did it of her parents. May God have his hand over this situation.
The news article stated that the 23 year old already has a 1 year old and she hid this pregnancy from her parents. My take on this is, the parents are already taking care of her and their grandchild so maybe the girl knew they would be upset with another mouth to feed (still no excuse to do what she did to that poor child) I dont think the parents should be put down until all the facts are in.
