Portage Couple Awaiting Court Decision On Turbine Lawsuit

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa -- While President-elect Barack Obama is looking to renewable energy to help get our economy back on track, our area is divided over whether that's a good idea.
Jill Stull from Portage says her life and farm have turned upside down ever since some unwelcome neighbors moved in 2006.
"We want the noise to stop. I want my husband to be able to sleep in our home," Stull said. More...

People of Potter County Beware!!
With the townships adopting a "come on in " policy for wind turbines, this story could soon be YOU!!
Hebron, Ulysses, Homer, Eulilia, and Swenden townships all have someone as a Supervisor on their boards that expect to have personal gain by passing a poorly written and unrestrictive wind ordinance. The Health and Safety of the people of the townships is being "thrown to the wind" to achieve this personal gain. At one time it was called "taking a bribe", now it is called "incentives to the host community".
Once again...Do you have any proof for this statement?
"to achieve this personal gain"
I think you are the one that has made an ass of yourself on more than one occasian making claims that "You know something", well do tell! Because frankly I am getting tired of your lies!
It seems the tree huggers will go to any length to scare people. Go home, where you came from.
Sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me.

Why do you continually call the people who assert there is unbearable noise liars?
What are you afraid of if you give their statements any credence at all?
Why don't you believe what their experience is?
I think that what Rep Chick is getting at is that it is just one persons opinion against another as to what the extent of the noise is. For example, average office noise levels are about 50 Dba and riding inside of your car is around 70 Dba and according to the link that I've posted, a wind farm at 350 Meters averages 35-45 Dba.
Here are the links:

I hope Mr. Negative gets one in his back yard.
"Why do you continually call the people who assert there is unbearable noise liars?"
Boy this one went right over your head didn't it?!
I was talking about the statement made "to achieve this personal gain"...and "At one time it was called "taking a bribe"...not about the noise!
But since you brought up the noise issue, I do not believe the noise to be as some people have stated. I have not called them liars in regards to the noise issue.
I have been to several wind turbine areas and have not experienced the noise these people have stated they have. PERIOD!
"Mr. Negative said...

Mr Neg,
I would use the word perception rather than opinion. The noise level at this location is what it is.
We do not know the Dba count there at this location. They may be more sensititve or have bias because they are live close or it may just
be that the noise is above acceptable Dba levels. We don't know the particulars.
But to dismiss them as liars or as attention seekers is just wrong.
Something is affecting these people, be it real or perceived.
I wish we had enough land to put them in our backyard....Yeah for the $$$$$
" I do not believe the noise to be as some people have stated."
Great exaggerators or unbelievers I suppose?
SEMICOLON!
"Great exaggerators or unbelievers I suppose?"
I don't know,I did not say that now did I?!
YOU DID!
Why are people jamming me about this? All i did was post a couple of links to some information that I found about noise levels! Personally, I could care less whether they get put in or not because I live in town and there really is no benefit or disadvantage to me. I DO believe that the USA needs to start looking at alternate sources of energy. Is wind power the solution? I don't really know...I lean more toward using Hydrogen power, but the technology isn't there to support that....yet. Drilling for more natural gas will also help, but I also worry about the possible water contamination. By the way.....i don't think a wind turbine would fit in my backyard.
I think it's a case of noise stats from the industry vs what people say they experience in their lives from the noise.
which side do we lean to, if at all?
SINCE WE READ MANY ARTICLES OF CONCERN THIS SITE THAT SEEM TO AFFECT MANY OF YOUR READERS - could SOLOMONS
WORDS please go back and publish what the people in these articles have been diagnosed with and by who.
There are people in Potter County who already have lawsuit $ signs in their eyes and this information would benefit them as well as those of us who believe there is no diagnosis for any of these claims.
As an example the persom with the illness that says
the windturbines will KILL
them and then stated that they would tear the county apart if they come. I think this persons problems are bigger than turbines and would love to know what and who diagnosed them!!!

"As an example the persom with the illness that says

Anger Management Classes would be a start followed by some "happy pills"!
By the way, I hope the planning commission approves his plan to build a 600 ft apt. building, good luck fillin' it 'lil man!
But it will not matter if you rent out any or not, the dream team of 3 can use the extra property tax money you will generate for them to piss away on another study of some sort!
How about the self proclaimed Biblical prophet?Shoots the heck out of that lawsuit! Can anyone say pre- existing condition?
Though they may all be good ole pals, the planning commission can't pass anything that would discriminate against any other industry or business.
It could be a long process, very long process....
Back in those days I'm not sure they had what the planning board and protesters are requiring today to build a hotel.
sgc from sgc
"It could be a long process, very long process....sgc from sgc"
Are you giving advise to one of your own? Anti wind is how I read his blog.
He is the one that made the statement, not us sane people!
It was sarcasm.
What makes he/she think there wouldn't be strict regs on a six hundred foot stick hut not to mention the research and education the county would need to be able to regulate such a pristine view.
I'm pro industry, landowner rights, and Potter County.
Rep Chick,
Don't tell me that there isn't some sort of noise you don't like...
Now imagine that you have to contend with it day in and day out...you probably wouldn't like it either!
Problem is that these turbines probably should be sited no where near residential areas...and some companies appparently have that viewpoint.
Mr. Negative, has said he lives in town so he doesn't really have to worry about it...
What about you?
To be fair, anyone who would be
"on the take" with these things shouldn't be talking.
In the same vein, anyone who lives
" in town " and wouldn't have to worry about these being sited in their own backyards or close by, shouldn't really be talking either!
So what you are saying here is that the "pro wind" people and the "no opinion" people should just stay out of this blog and let the "anti-wind" people rant and rave at each other? I thibnk the "anti's" have ranted enough...the ordinances have been passed, the turbines are coming whether they like it or not and I guess that only the future will tell who was right and who was wrong about it.
