Rixford, Pa.- Dorothy E. "Dot" Schwab, 81, of Looker Mountain Trail died Sunday (March 22, 2009) at Bradford Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born April 27, 1927, in Bradford, she was a daughter of Neil A. and Edythe L. Swift Harris. On June 15, 1946, in Rixford, she married Virgil L. Schwab, who passed away March 20, 2006.
Mrs. Schwab was a 1945 graduate of Otto High School in Duke Center and resided all of her life in the Rixford area.
She had been employed in the accounting departments of the Kinter Co., Grant's City and Sample Co., all in Olean, N.Y., until retiring in 1984. Years later, she helped in the family business, Duke Center Superette.
Mrs. Schwab was a member of the Duke Center United Methodist Church where she was choir director and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Otto Township Red Hat Mammas.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, ceramics, flower gardening, reading, her music and singing.
Surviving are three sons, Randall (Sandra) Schwab of Coudersport, Richard (Carol) Schwab of Northglenn, Colo., and James Schwab of Lewis Run; a daughter, Christy Covert of Duke Center; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna (Vern) Walker of Rixford; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Dorla Walker.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. Darell Harris, retired pastor of Oswayo, officiating. Burial will be in Rixford Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are under direction of the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred, Pa.

Dorothy was a wonderful person. She always had a smile on her face. I can't say that I ever remember her having a "bad day". She will always be remembered as a woman who was content, happy, and who brought joy to others.
