Paul Heimel Writes........

Hello Jim.
On Potter County Today we note the passing of Joe Becker. He was a terrific guy.

In case you'd like this photo I took last year, it shows Joe presenting a certificate of appreciation to Tina Franklin for her work with the Gold Star Mothers.

March 7 marked the fourth anniversary of her son's death in Iraq (Army Specialist Mike Franklin). Joe was very supportive of the Franklin family after Mike's passing.

Tina has served as a Gold Star Mother, consoling families of other war casualties and visiting the wounded at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

We'll miss Joe and he has left behind big shoes to fill.

Joe Becker's life was memorialized today in a service in Galeton, PA

This is an excellent picture. Joe Becker has left a lasting impression on me during the short period of time I got to know him. He was available to veterans and their families 24/7. Although Joe was only paid for two (2) days a week, the very first time I met him he told me to give out his home phone number if I received a call during the times he was not in the courthouse. Joe does leave behind big shoes to fill and will be missed by all those who came into contact with him. God Bless You Joe.

I had the privilege and honor of working with Mr. Becker. He also was guest speaker at one of the Man to Man meetings held at the Mill Stream Inn. I remember this meeting well, because he announced to all attending that he had only six months to live. After the meeting I hugged him and told him he was loved and I cried all the way home. Now here was a man true to his word and knowledgable in many subjects. I will miss Mr. Becker more than words can express.
