Rapp: 'Tax Me More Express' is
Cause of De-Railed State Budget
After signing a stop-gap state budget last month to pay state employees, Gov. Ed Rendell is back on the road again, making his case for higher taxes and higher spending...and predicting dire consequences if his demands are not met. In addition to hundreds of unemployed state workers, the governor's individual executive decisions are having dire consequences right now because he alone chose to blue line or eliminate funding in the stop-gap budget to hold dozens of vital programs and community services hostage to up the ante on his bid for increased taxes.
For example, many child care providers serving low- and moderate-income families across the state are at risk to shut down due to the lack of state support.
As a result, parents who can't find alternatives may be forced to quit their jobs and collect unemployment or even welfare to care for their children.
Students heading off to Penn State, Pitt, other state-affiliated colleges or state-owned universities, and community colleges have no idea how much grant funding they will get from the state, or even when or if they'll get that money.
Senior citizens, veterans, children and others who rely on county-based programs such as Meals on Wheels could see services reduced or suspended due to lack of funds.More from 1490 NewsBlog

Did we Pennsylvanian's elect Saddam Husen (spelling) a few years back?
Layoff a bunch of deadwood state employees!!!
Well I wonder if old Rendell or Spendell or done spent it all whaterever his name is happens to be drawing a check? Someone please tell me he is not getting paid. Looks like we are getting a taste of what the universal health bill would be like. I heard Friday the 5th is call the Govenors office and bitch day.
On the Governors web site it says one of his accomplishments was as follows:
Strategic Sourcing
Governor Edward G. Rendell’s strategic sourcing program is broad in scope but simple in concept. It seeks to make the state live by the rules that families and businesses have lived by for years -- buy only what you need, not what you want.
Seems like maybe he forgot about this accomplishment or thought it was a bad idea and decided to try a new approach. I really don't agree with it. I work hard I should by what I want. I am not guaranteed tomorrow. Thats like saying you need transportation to work...well all you need is a bike..but I want a car...tuff sh*! Rendell says buy what you need. Not what you want.
Maybe the state just needs to employ the people and provide the services the state needs and not what the Gov wants.
By the way the Govs office number is (717) 787-2500.
take for the working class and give to the rich and famous...seems to be the new way of the economy or what....stupid is as stupid does only stupid is the governor....this makes no sense at all....
yet he hired a buddy a couple months ago and give him an ungodly amoount of money just for being his buddy.
and what taxes does he want to raise, since most are either unemployed, retired or already on welfare, who will pay the higher taxes, the 40% of the state that still is working, who can barely make ends meet now... what an idiot....
"Rendell last month vetoed $12.8 billion from a spending bill, saying the move would pressure lawmakers to make a decision as state funding dries up for day care, pre-K programs, nonprofits and eventually schools and counties."

Ah ha! Now I know which bone head to blame.
I'm seeing alot of bitching about Rendell so the next election.....VOTE HIM OUT! I know he's not getting my vote!
Can't vote him out next election. He is gone by default, term limits. He'll be an Obama cabinet member.
Republicans need to stand strong and hold tight on the budget. There is never going to be enough money if you buy everything your heart desires.
fat boy rendell can screw up a one car funeral and brag about it way to go democrats
