Michael J. Kandare, “Whale”, 50 of Smethport, PA

Smethport - Michael J. Kandare, “Whale”, 50 of Smethport, died Thursday (November 5, 2009) in the UPMC Montefiore, Pittsburgh, after battling cancer.

He was born March 8, 1959 in Olean, NY, a son of Arlene M. Russell, of Lewis Run, PA, who survives. On May 5, 2001, in Smethport, PA, he married Constance S.”Connie” Seger, who survives.

Mr. Kandare was a 1977 graduate of Smethport High School and was a self employed general contractor.

one daughter: Gayle M. (Armando Aponte) Blackman of Smethport, PA
Grandchildren, Aleix Aponte, Ariana Aponte
step son, Dylan Reed of State College, PA
one sister: Lynn A. Kandare of Smethport, PA
two brothers: Jeffrey A. (Tracey) Kandare of Berneville, PA, Bradley S. "Chip" (Adrian) Kandare of Lexington, SC
Nephews: Eric, Craig, A.J., Andrew, and Ty; and Nieces: Abby and Kylie, and many lives he had touched over the years.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 9, from 4-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. Funeral and committal services will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the First Church of God, Eldred, PA, with the Rev. James A. Kazimer, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
