Turtlepoint Man Airlifted
A Turtlepoint driver was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre after he swerved to miss a deer Friday afternoon at 3:07 PM, and hit a tree on Open Brook Road in Liberty Township.
Matthew A. McFall, 24, Turtlepoint, PA, was negotiating a slight left curve while traveling north on Open Brook Road when a deer ran into the path of his 1998 Dodge Dakota from the west (left).
He swerved to the right to miss the deer and lost control of the truck, impacting a tree off the right side of the road with it's front end. Reports from the scene indicated McFall was entrapped in his vehicle. Police said he suffered moderate injuries.
McFall was transported to Charles Cole Hospital and was flown by helicopter to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. State Police reported Saturday night that McFall has since been released from that hospital.
State Police were assisted by Port Allegany Ambulance and Port Allegany Fire Department and fire police.
Fire and Ambulance crews were delayed precious minutes in finding the accident scene when the crash was originally reported to be on Lower Grimes Road instead of Open Brook Road.
