Troopers Catch Roulette Man After Chase Into Woods

Man Led Trooper On Foot Chase
Troopers caught a Roulette man early Saturday morning after a short car chase into a Coudersport cemetery, where he exited the vehicle he was driving, and fled on foot into the woods.

Chad Jones, 24, of 11 third Street, Roulette, PA, was signaled to stop by Coudersport troopers after a traffic violation was observed on Route 6 at about 1:00 am. A short vehicle pursuit occurred from Route 6 into a driveway in the St. Eulalia Cemetery.

Jones exited the vehicle he was driving and fled on foot.

The trooper pursued Jones into the woods, calling for other units to assist him. Coudersport Police Department joined the chase and Jones was found in a nearby wooded area.

He was arraigned before District Judge Delores Bristol who set bail at $1500.00 unsecured.

Jones will face charges of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude A Police Officer; DUI; Resisting Arrest; Disorderly Conduct; Driving With A Suspended Drivers License; and Following Too Closely.

$1500 unsecured?? Wow, he put the lives of people at risk and had to be chased on foot and he doesnt even have to come up with bail money?

Driving at 1:00 AM on a suspended license, under the influence and then resisting arrest.

Chad has some growing up to do.

Hey Judge Bristol, I don't want this ignorant jerk putting my life at risk. Unsecured Bond is an insult to the rest of us.

why District Judge Bristol? why not Easton, or has the districts changed again?

The Troopers were just harassing him right? Isn't that the usual consensus in this county?
Where are the ignorant anti-police comments? Did you all wear yourselves out typing yesterday and sunday?
What a backwards county we live in.

Now, this is the kinda Police Chase I think is OK. Not the roaring down the roads at ungodly speeds endangering everyone not involved....

From what I hear this was blown way out of proportion! Imagine that! Maybe they should have shot him while he was pissin!!

Anonymous said...

This just goes to show...if the police have to come get you they're bringing an a** kicking with them.

how many counts od disturbing the peace??? one for each grave???

Now Chad what you need to do is a lot of walking and practicing riding a bike. This will do you a lot of good, so the next time you will be able to run a whole lot faster.
Thanks for parking the car and trying this time. You may just have saved some lives, even your own.

District Judge Bristol, was proably the judge on call for the weekend, to comment 7:47.

9:33, you're an idiot. This guy was driving drunk and ran from police, so arresting him was blowing it out of proportion?

I don't know about you, but my wife and kids travel on these roads and I like to see officers out there doing their jobs. I, like most people, appreciate what they do.

It's a shame that idiots like you have to come on here and display your ignorance (anonymously of course). It seems that the police can do no right in your eyes.
They may have saved a life in this case by getting that moron off the road, but you don't see it that way.

The police officers in this county are not the problem. The morons that critize there every move are the problem. Why should they cut anyone a break when they will be criticized regardless? I certainly don't envy what any police officers have to deal with, but it rises to a whole different level in this county. It's disgusting.

shoud have shot him

1:15- All I said was that I think the situation was blown out of proportion idiot! He was .12 (.02 above the old limit) and got out to piss, not knowing the cops were even after him. They tackled him and cuffed him and stuffed him. Was not combative and went peacefully. Most of us know that the police there stack as many charges as possible on knowing half of them will be dropped in a plea before trial. People do make mistakes Mr. Perfect and have to pay the price! I have lost a sibling to a drunk driver but most of us know the police there like a little overkill.(No pun intended) As far as unsecured bail goes- he's lived there his whole life and has a good job with very little previous trouble as far as I know! I've seen a lot of people go unsecured for a lot worse. Guess you would of been happy if they would have shot him! If the people in our county disgust you that much, maybe you should leave.

Rich Wasson for president!!! Thank you. Finally someone with a brain posting a comment in here. That is a nice change.

this whole thing sounds a lil confusing to me still. Chad is a good guy and has been going through a hard time w someone he cares alot bout. But there is no excuse for what he did. Especially beening out that night when he should of been home resting for the plans he made w three lil kids the very next morning. That should of been number one.

To the commenter that says Chad has very little in his background, well obviously you either don't know him that well or don't live in the area!!!!!

Regardless of his background, he seems to be a nice kid. However I don't care if he is .08 (the new limit) or .2, I've seen them both when working drawing blood for DUIs and you would be surprised at the impairment a .12 can do to someone. Plus either way, he is above the legal limit.

And if he was getting chased and stopped to get out to piss as you say, if he wasn't impaired, he would have known they were behind him!

Get over yourself, the police do good around here and everyone criticizes them. I for one appreciate them and the hard work they do!!!!!

As for you Mr. Wasson, great post!!! Nice to see the a "glass half full" kind of comment on here that actually takes some neurons!!!!

Chad is a nice kid. He really screwed up and will have to pay the price. I've always thought all he needed was a "little direction". I hope he learns from this.

I'm sorry to have offended you so. It sounds like you must have been there to be sure of such details. I didn't realize that he was ONLY .12, which apparently impaired him to the point that he couldn't see the bright flashing lights or hear the siren behind him. So he was completely okay to drive. And damn those Troopers for tackling him for no reason! Surely this fine citizen didn't disobey any orders given to him by those mean Troopers which would have forced them take such aggressive action. My apologies. Sounds like he has a great defense. Tell him to go for it!

P.S. I never said anything about the bail. Didn't really care.

To whomever posted my brother should have been shot, be careful what you wish for. He made a mistake, but to say he needs shot? Grow up, and grow a pair douchebag.

IMO...

This was an easy case for the State boys to take care of.

One good does not erase a lot of bad from the State police.

I have seen many things that they could have taken care of but decided to walk away instead.

So I have very little faith in our Pennsylvania State Police.

AGAIN, this is Just My Opinion!!

Taking the bus would be great if Potter County would take the initiative and start operating some type of public transportation system. A bus or taxi system that would allow people to avoid DUI's, and putting other people in harm's way, is just what Potter County needs. It would also be very beneficial for people who would rather take public transportation to work and stop putting a lot of their hard-earned money into their gas tanks. DUI's would hopefully decrease considerably with public transportation. Jobs would be created for drivers and mechanics, and presumably people would be a little safer knowing that someone who chose to drink had the opportunity to call a cab or bus. Maybe the county should consider it instead of hiring and creating Technology and Emergency Management jobs every other month. It's this type of forward-thinking that could pay off in the long run for both the County and its citizens. Even someone running an independent taxi could make so much money giving people rides home. It's responsible and makes sense. Hopefully the Commissioners and law enforcement look into the idea of something like that. Just a thought. I'm sure someone will find a way to disagree though. Anyway Chad your a dumbass, but I love ya.

For awhile Busty's in Turtlepoint was offering it's highly valued customers transportation in the event that the highly valued customers did not have a way to stop by or needed transportation home should they feel that they drank more then they should have.

9:25-

You should give some examples of these "many things"...just my opinion.

I would hate to be a cop around here. They can't win with some of you people. You bitch that they "walk away" from things(9:25) and then you bitch every time they arrest somebody. What the hell do want from them?

STOP F***IN UP IN POTTER COUNTY

It happens all across the good ole USA!!! Sorry folks but Potter County does not lay claim to being stupid.

Fleeing while DUI is a felony. And for good reason. It puts me and my family in great danger if we happen to be on the highway. Just him being DUI on the highway makes me nervious. I'm sure he's a "good kid" or 24yo adult for that matter, and maybe he just made a "bad decision". But he should sit in jail for whatever time it takes for him to grow up or improve his decision making. The rest of us are thankful he's being held held accountable. And I for one am disappointed in the unsecured bail as well. I'd like to see a list of previous bail for various charges.
