Domestic Violence Candlelight Vigil Planned Monday
The public is encouraged to make a statement against domestic violence during a candlelight vigil to be held Monday, Oct. 18, at the Coudersport Arboretum at 6 pm. It’s sponsored by A Way Out, the organization that provides shelter, counseling and advocacy for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse.
Purpose of the brief service is to remember those who have lost their lives as a result of domestic violence, to celebrate the survivors and to honor those whose work to end domestic violence locally and nationally.

As a long term survivor of domestic violence, I celebrate not only my freedom from abuse, but how very appropriate that my former abuser went to prison last year in October (which is when we observe Domestic Violence Awareness Month).
Not only am I a former resident of Potter County, but my abuser was a Potter County resident prior to being swept off to prison last October.
Even though he is serving time on felony drug charges, I still find such comfort and vindication in him finally answering to his disguisting behavior. However these abusers end up behind bars, we still get some of this human garbage removed from our streets...even if for just a little while...lives will be saved in that "little while"
