Rep. Thompson Speaks On Marcellus Misinformation

Thompson Delivers Weekly Radio Update

Addresses Marcellus Shale Misinformation

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson spoke yesterday evening in a weekly radio update regarding misinformation included in recent reporting concerning the Marcellus Shale Natural Gas Play and water quality in the Commonwealth.

AUDIO: Click Here

On February 26th, the New York Times reported that water quality in the Commonwealth was at risk due to a natural gas excavation process known as hydraulic fracturing. Earlier this week, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) released water tests validated with scientific data that municipal drinking water in the Commonwealth is safe, effectively addressing related misinformation included in the reports.

Numerous members of Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation, including Thompson, have expressed concern that misinformation from these reports could impact PA DEP’s ability to properly and independently carry out its mandate, free from excessive interference by the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Thompson continues to remain actively engaged with regulators, producers, landowners and industry experts to educate people on the economic potential of the Marcellus Shale and ensure that Pennsylvania’s natural resources continue to be produced in an environmentally sound manner.

OMG! I never heard such a complete pile of BS!

All he did was to chant the corporate line from the gas companies!

Yea,and backed his statements up with scientific facts.
It appears there surley is alot of BS being put out,but these men don't seem to be the culprits!

He needs to wear NASCAR patches so we know what companies he is really representing!

Nothing to see here, everything is fine! Don't look behind the curtain, look, look over there!

There was very good reporting in the Times' articles. That Thompson doesn't agree with the information doesn't make it misinformation. They keep talking about municipal water wells; what about private wells? How about dusting permits? Dozing our Game Lands and state forests? And we're only seeing the beginning.
Very hypocritical for many of these guys to boast about scientific facts when it suits them and sweep science under the rug most other times. Stay tuned.

Those that make it to Heaven will hear from GOD that greed did not pay and those that don't never will.

I hope that all these elected officials will keep clippings of their positions now. When they're all proven wrong and caught singing their handler's tunes they can apologize and be held criminally accountable for their actions.
What a load of BULLSHIT coming out of GT's mouth!!!!!!

So Glenn Thompson is saying the hydrolic fracking is not going to ruin any of our ground water?

Humm, I have several friend in Texas and I have talked with them about our area and the gas... Everyone one said that it ruined their ground water. One friend said its all about money and the little bit of money people get and spend is not worth the forever problem of bad water and cancer that follows. I'd like to make all the politicians who say its safe as well as the gas company employees live within a few hundred yards of a fracked gas well and see how long they would last. Especially having to use tanked in water which they would have to pay for....
What is wrong with people?

Personally, I am more inclined to believe the data provided by the NYT rather than the "information" provided by an elected official who is in bed with the drilling companies. I started researching just how much money Thompson received in campaign contributions from the Marcellus Gas industry. I managed to get up to $110,072.00 before giving up. It was taking just far too much time to go through all of the contributions to CORBETT, followed closely by contributions to SCARNATI. Yes, the gas industry certainly got what they paid for. The Pennsylvania government of, by and for the Gas Drillers. Check out the campaigns yourself:

Have you seen the makeup of Corbett's Marcellus commission?

Thirteen of the members contributed a total of $557,000 to Mr. Corbett's political campaigns since 2008; 12 have ties with companies whose executives or political action committees contributed another $562,000; one is the son of a $300,000 contributor. All together that amounted to just over $1.4 million.

Seems to me like PA NEEDS the interference of the federal EPA. Maybe even the Justice Department.

Corbett brings crony capitalism to new lows and Thompson turns a blind eye.

WE NEED INTEGRITY GT. Not a damned cheerleader.
