Robert L. “Bill” Nichols, Sr., 77, of Roulette, PA

Robert L. “Bill” Nichols, Sr., 77, of Roulette, PA passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Born on January 10, 1934 in Sodus, NY he was the son of Ervin and Iona Young Nichols. On June, 23, 1956 in Coudersport, PA he married the former Margaret L. Bossie who preceded him in death on February 2, 1998.

Mr. Nichols served with the U. S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 – 1956. He retired from Ball Incon Corp in Port Allegany after 35 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Potter Post 192 in Coudersport.

He is survived by seven children, Rose (Dennis) Lloyd of Munson, PA, Mary Nichols of Coudersport, James (Brita) Nichols of Austin, Frank (Tracee) Nichols of Marseilles, IL, Robert (Sherri) Nichols of Roulette, Rex (Jodie) Nichols of Coudersport, and Michael Nichols of Roulette, 17 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Gladys Brent of Tonawanda, NY and Phyllis (Robert) Tackaberry of Kenmore, NY, brothers, Thomas Nichols of Coudersport and Larry Nichols of Tonawanda, NY.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers, Ervin Nichols, Jr., Russell Nichols, Edward Nichols, Harold Nichols, and Charles Nichols, and three sisters, Ethel Daggett, Alice Coppinger, and Lenora Stevens.


Friends may call at the Fickinger Funeral Home, Coudersport, on Friday, March 11, 2011 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and on Saturday from 10:00am – 11:00am at which times funeral services will be held with the Reverend H. D. Youngblood, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Roulette Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by members of the Potter County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to Roulette Hill Cemetery, c/o Mr. Bill Grandin, Post Office Box 231, Roulette, PA 16746, or to Potter County Hospice, 1001 E. Second St., Coudersport, PA 16915, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
