Centennial, Colorado-----Wanda Ruth Holly Jenkins, 82, of Centennial, Colorado, formerly of Shinglehouse, PA, died Monday, September 26, 2011 in Sunrise at Orchard Assisted Living, Centennial, after a long illness.

Born September 5, 1929 in Ceres, NY, she was a daughter of Azel Eric and Inez Penrose Rice Holly. On October 8, 1950 in the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, she married Kenneth Raymond Jenkins, who died on May 6, 1998.

She was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, class of 1947.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, having sung in the choir and also taught vacation Bible school. While living in Indiana she belonged to the local garden club.

Throughout her marriage, she and her husband lived in North Carolina, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Seymour, IN, Rochester, NY, Shinglehouse, PA, Conifer, CO, Fountain Hills, AZ, Littleton, CO, and Centennial, CO.

Wanda enjoyed flower arranging, piloting airplanes, interior design, watercolor, gardening, doll collecting, doll making, antiques and singing.
She will be remembered with love and honor.

Surviving are three sons, the Rev. Kit Reid (Nancy) Jenkins of Huntington, WV, Dale Martin (Marie) Jenkins of Littleton, CO, and Jeffrey Scott (Patricia) Jenkins of Roxborough, CO; eight grandchildren: Wyatt (Celsea) Jenkins, Matthew (Christine) Jenkins, Angela Jenkins, Kelsey (Jesse) Lidstone, Bree-ann (Thomas) Dulaney, Kaley Shay Jenkins, Brian Toews and Rachel Toews; nine great-grandchildren: Matthew Jenkins, Rebecca Jenkins, Brett Troxell, Emma Lidstone, Jacob Jenkins, Hannah Jenkins, Trevor Jenkins, Charlotte Dulaney, and Samuel Jenkins; a brother, Donald Holly of Indianapolis, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Winchell; and a sister, Dorothy (Cartwright Elliott) Hehman.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, PA with the Rev. Russell J. Horning, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Myrtle Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
