Emporium Teen Airlifted After Rt. 120 Crash On Friday

An Emporium Teenager was injured Friday afternoon when her 1995 Chevrolet S-10 hit a mailbox on Route 120 , sixty six feet west of Sunny Lane Road, and subsequently a guiderail, then going over an embankment.

Kasandra A. Karsten, 18, of Emporium, PA, was extricated from her pickup truck by Emporium Fire Rescue and transported to the Cameron County High School Football Field by Emporium Ambulance where she was airlifted by Stat 9 Helicopter to Altoona Hospital with injuries of unknown severity.

Troopers said the crash occurred as Karsten was traveling east on Route 120 when her pickup left the north side of the roadway striking mailboxes off the side of the roadway. The pickup then crossed over Sunny Lane and struck the east guiderail with it's front end, then traveling over the guiderail and down over an 8 foot embankment before coming to rest over the embankment.

The report said she was not wearing a seat belt. She'll be cited for Roadways Laned For Traffic.
