Helen B. Sarginger, 83, of Williamsport, PA died Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Williamsport Hospital .
Born on September 24, 1928 in Coudersport, PA, she was the daughter of Otis Warren and Eugenia Russell Baker. On August 20, 1949 in Coudersport she married Richard L. Sarginger who died on September 10, 1981.
Mrs. Sarginger was a graduate of Coudersport High School. She had worked for many years as a clerk in the Potter County Register and Recorders office and also as the Sweden Township tax collector. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Coudersport and attended the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Williamsport. She was very active in the Homewood Townhouse Assoc. where she resided. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Mrs. Sarginger (“Grammy”) will be remembered by those who knew her best for giving the warmest hugs, serving the hottest cups of tea, and for her love and devotion to her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her son, Richard M. (Susan) Sarginger of Pennsdale, PA, and daughter, Denise S. (Butch) Leete, of Williamsport, PA, sister-in-law, Edith (Denny) Menschel of Coudersport, PA, five grandchildren, Cassandra Leete of Williamsport and Christopher Leete of Williamsport, Laura Sarginger of New York City and Melissa Sarginger of New York City, and Zachary Sarginger of Pennsdale.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Douglas Eugene Sarginger and sisters, Maxine Tonibelle Baker and Edna Marie Baker.
Friends may call at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Coudersport, on Sunday, October 30, 2011 from 3:30pm until 4:30pm at which time funeral and committal services will be held with the Rev. Evon McJunkin officiating. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Coudersport, PA.
