No Injuries In Droney Road Crash Saturday

A man from Rew was not hurt Saturday afternoon at 4:30 pm when his pickup truck went off the road and hit a tree on Droney Road, 1001 feet west of the township line in Lafayette Township.

Robert P. Pierotti, 71, of Rew, PA, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Trooper Mary L. Gausman, who investigated, said the crash occurred as Pierotti's 2010 Ford F-250 was traveling eastbound on Droney Road, going uphill and rounding a sharp right hand curve. The vehicle drifted into the oncoming lane and onto the opposite berm. Pierotti overcompensated and came back across the road and went over the embankment on the south side of the roadway and struck a tree head-on, where the vehicle came to rest.

Pierotti then fled the scene of the crash according to Trooper Gausman. He was charged with Driving on Right Side of Highway.
