Pennsylvania receives additional funding for home heating program

HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania will receive an additional $52.3 million in federal funding for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program to aid those struggling to pay home heating bills, the Department of Public Welfare said.
The federally-funded program provides cash grants to eligible low-income households to help pay for home heating fuel. It also provides crisis grants to address heating emergencies such as furnace failures or unexpected fuel shortages.
The additional $52.3 million brings the state’s total to $209.5 million for the current season, which began last Nov. 1.
Since then, the program has helped 269,777 households pay heating bills. More than 54,412 households have received crisis grants.
The minimum cash benefit recipients may receive is now $100, and the maximum crisis grant amount is $300.
To apply for the program visit www.compass.state.pa.us or apply in-person at county assistance offices.

What really sucks is that if you actually work and make a buck or two over the limit, you can't get shet.
The middle class working families get nothing..49%of Americans are on freebies and hand-outs..this is how BHO is going to get reelected.This is not the America that that I once knew..and I really do not think that we will EVER get that America back.

The population of the state of Pennsylvania according to a search I just did is 12,742,886....
So why not take the $52.3 million dollars and divide it between that population and help everyone in this state with their heating bill... Weather is be gas, electric, propane, wood or any other way they heat their homes.
There is no reason to not do that if you ask me... In one way or another I do not care what you make we all struggle, and why only let this be an option for those who mostly choose not to work because of programs such as this.... If someone is always paying their way, they will never attempt to pay their own. I for one, who pay taxes do not like the fact that I am helping them do nothing...
