Looks like Joe is going to the superbowl again this year !!
HIS County-Venango has over 1,800 abandoned wells!
The proposed regulations,if passed will continue to allow operators to post plugging bonds that are only a fraction of the actual plugging costs.
The proposed bonding requirements will continue to encourage operators to forfeit their bond rather than plug wells. As they have historically.
Venango does have pristine streams but what he failed to mention is all of ongoing contamination Issues in his county.Contamination issues directly related to the unplugged wells.
These have been pouring methane and contaminants for decades.
He is aware this issue is snowballing.
He is kicking the can down the road, leaving the responsibility to plug the wells to someone less beholden to the gas industry.
We the tax payers should be honored to cover the well plugging costs.
9:33:00 PM The leasers get the bill not the tax payers.
Some of the most pristine streams in the nation in Venango county? Really? Look up the Fish and Boat Commission Class A stream list and do some self education. Class A streams are what they consider the highest quality based on biomass of wild trout, which is only possible due to clean (pristine if you will) water being present - trout can't reproduce in contaminated/poor quality water.
Venango has 5 streams sections on that list.
Potter has 54.
You do the math and decide for yourself.
