Both drivers were transported to Bradford Regional Medical Center by Eldred Fire Dept. Ambulances for treatment of injuries received in a violent two car crash Wednesday night at 9:10 pm on South Main Street at it's intersection with Cris Drive in Eldred Borough.

Jessica L. Green, 27, of Eldred, PA, and Craig L. Switzer, 60, of Rixford, PA, suffered injuries described by police as minor. Both were wearing seat belts.

Trooper Roger L. McCloskey said the crash occurred as a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Green stopped on Cris Drive at the intersection with South Main Street. Green did not see a 1997 Dodge Stratus driven by Switzer that was traveling northbound on Main Street and attempted to turn right/northbound onto Main Street. Green's Grand Am was then struck by Switzer's Stratus on the left front side of the vehicle, resulting in heavy damage to both vehicles. The vehicles were removed by McKeirnan's Garage.

Green was cited by State Police for a stop sign violation.

Eldred Borough Ambulance and Fire Dept, and Eldred Township Fire Dept. assisted at the scene and diverted traffic to the West Eldred Road while the incident was in progress and the roadway was blocked.  More photos are available on the Eldred Boro Fire Dept. Facebook Site.

Based on the appearance of the cars, if Green had been stopped at the stop sigh and was just pulling out she couldn't have been going more than a couple miles per hour, is seems as if Sweitzer had to have been coming along at a pretty steady clip (in a 35 mph speed zone) if she didn't see him and then for the impact to do that much damage...and he wssn't cited for anything???

That damage is right in line with a 35mph crash with no time to brake. If you pull out in front of someone and are struck ahead of the b-pillar, it is your fault.

Just goes to show how cheap cars are made now-a-days.
