BREAKING NEWS: Explosion in Alfred

911 reports a structure fire and explosion.
An Alfred fire chief has reported a partial building collapse. Some people have been transported to area hospitals. Ambulances have been sent to the scene from Alfred, Almond, Andover, Amity Rescue and Wellsville. Fire crews have responded from Alfred, Almond, Andover as well as the Wellsville and District II FAST teams.
A triage area has been established nearby to sort the injured.Fire & EMS crews from a broad area have been called in for stand-by. An ambulance from Bolivar is handling an emergency in Wellsville while Friendship has been brought in to Wellsville. Steuben County departments are on alert. Desperate calls have been made for utility crews. 911 said they were on the line with a women who was trapped.
The Wellsville Heavy Rescue Unit has been requested as well as units from Cuba.
UPDATE: 6:26 P.M., The Technical Rescue Unit from Wellsville has been called to the scene.
UPDATE: 6:58 P.M., Some of the ambulances are being released from the scene. Expect other emergency workers to be at the scene for some time.
UPDATE: 7:35P.M., One source on scene says everyone has been accounted for. One or two people were taken to St. James Hospital in Hornell. Others were evaluated at the scene. Cause is unknown. Wellsville Rescue is reaching out to some local lumber supply companies for a large quantity of lumber and blocking needed at the scene.
