A Kane driver was hurt Wednesday morning at about 9:15 am when a large chunk of ice came off the top of a large truck traveling in the opposite direction and crashed through the windshield, striking the man in the head.
Deryk Smith, 23, of Kane, PA, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on Route 6 about 2 1/2 miles east of Kane near the Kane Country Club, when the oncoming large truck, possibly a garbage truck hauling a dumpster, released a large chunk of ice from it's top. The ice went through the windshield and struck Smith who suffered a minor head injury. Smith was able to bring his vehicle to a stop on the shoulder without further incident. His vehicle suffered moderate damage according to Trooper Daniel J. Woods, who investigated.
The truck did not stop and continued to travel west on Route 6. Anyone with any information on the accident is asked to contact PSP Kane at 814-778-5555.

It is against PA driving law to leave any snow on your roof, hood or trunk.
HAPPENS WAY TOO OFTEN!
How are you climbing up top to clean it off. 13'6" no ladder.
Climb up
I saw a red roll off truck in Kane around that time, I believe a company from Mount Jewett runs a red roll off truck.
