FBI Calls Are A Scam / Don't Be Taken In!

I just got off the phone with the Port Allegany Police Department and they suggested I ask you to post something on your blog about this scam.

Today, I received a call from this number 646-571-4611- the man had an accent and gave me a case number and claimed to be from the FBI. I asked his name and for his badge number, which he gave me, but it is a scam. If you google the number there are many reports of a scam related to this number. I called the police to report it and was told I was not the only one who called about it.

I am thinking that since so many people read your blog that a warning about this scam might prevent someone else from being a victim of this. The police officer told me that they try to scare people into buying pre-paid credit cards and calling them back with the number and then they will forget about the charges and not arrest that person. Pretty nasty scam if you ask me. Some people might be scared enough to comply and get scammed. Just letting you know and you can do with the information what you want.

If you call the number back (suggest you block your number by using *67) and enjoy the Voice mail message, you can quickly tell this isn't real.

Wouldn't you think that the police could trace the phone number listed and then they would have their suspect?????

who says that they aren't doing that?
