Galeton Development Corp Meeting

Galeton Development Corp Meeting
The Galeton Development Corporation met on Thursday November 15th at the
Brick House with president Joe Pagano presiding. Secretary , treasurer Paul
Pritchard reported 31 new corporate members have joined since last months
meeting. This is very encouraging news. One of the substantial benefits of
this organization is the reporting and updating of various important
community activities.

Andrew Lychalk reported for the chamber of commerce. The town Christmas
decorations are now being installed and the chamber is preparing for Santa's
arrival on 24 November. There will be a parade, Santa in the Collins Park
and fireworks.

Henry Lush reported for the Rotary Club and noted that Jeff Bliemeister,
joined the club. Jeff is the new managing director of the Pennsylvania
Lumberman's Museum.

Mike Plummer gave an update on the progress of the Wetmore Run water
purification system. Final documents have been executed and a trout
protection program is underway as well.

Dave Wishard, Galeton school superintendent gave his usual informative talk
about the school. He noted that the school is sponsoring The Angel Tree
Project This will be held at the West Street Plaza. The school play will
be held this weekend. Preferred contracting ABM has been engaged to give an
overview and recommendations of the tennis courts, signs and other
infrastructure considerations. All of this work takes place with
guaranteed savings. A drug informational speaker is being scheduled to
speak at the school in the near future.

Potter County Commissioner, Susan Kefover reported that she is working on a
transportation program to help train veterans for jobs. Susan's brother.
General Frank Sullivan has suggested this program. Delta Development Group
will be helping with a feasibility study. She reported that Pastor Knudson
of the Lighthouse Church and she will be working on a teen challenge,
Saving One Life At A Time".

Terri Dennison Pennsylvania Route Six Association Chair gave an extensive
report on the Pa. Wilds workshop recently held in St. Marys. Hopefully the
community will get behind this worthwhile program. Galeton may become the
Gateway to Cherry Springs Dark Skies" and the wilds program. The Dark Skies
activities are now receiving national attention and is expanding rapidly.
Terri will be moving her office back to Galeton and looks forward to hiring
additional staff. She announced that the new historical plaques are now
installed on the Main Street overlook. These are of great historical
importance to Galeton. The plaque show what the Collins Park looked like
when the Gale tannery was there in 1900 and the second plaque is an early
1900 photo of main street. There is a narrative on both plaques. This is
of great historical importance to the community. These were installed
through Terri's work on the Route 6 association.

President Joe Pagano reported the West Main Street project is now mostly
complete. He hopes that the sidewalk will be completed to West Street. The
Collins Park project is moving right along with new roofs on the buildings
and a complete rebuilding of the toilet facilities. The next phase will be
the electrical and the band house restoration.

It was noted that the borough offices and police department will be moving to West Street. The community building will be inspected to see what must be done to bring the building up to code. When that is completed, hopefully the building can be maintained as a part of the community..

Does anyone have the courage to call Teen Challenge what it really is -- an indoctrination program for the powerful Assemblies of God denominatin and a way for criminals to dance away from the consequences of their actions and be recruited into that organization. Feel free to Google it and you will see what Teen Challenge really is behind all of the window dressing, like at
