Genesee Teen Killed In ATV Crash Near Whitesville

A 17 year old Genesee girl was killed Tuesday night in an ATV crash near Whitesville, NY.

Fire Rescue and EMS personnel responded to the report at 10:58 pm of a serious ATV crash with 2 injured and the ATV on top of one of the victims. 

Jocelyn M. Saunders, 17 of Genesee, PA,  a passenger on the ATV, died at the scene.

Kyle D. McPherson, 16, of Andover, NY, the ATV driver, was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
 
New York State Police who investigated, said in a news release this morning: On 11/20/12 at about 10:00PM, a 2002 Yamaha ATV being operated McPherson was traveling south on Heselton Gully Rd, T/Independence, Allegany County, NY. The ATV traveling South, failed to negotiate moderate curve and drove off left side of roadway, and down a ravine before coming to rest. ATV passenger, Saunders, and McPherson were both ejected from the ATV.

Saunders was pronounced deceased at scene by Allegany County Coroner Maynard Baker who transported her to the Monroe County Medical Examiner's office.

McPherson was transported by LifeNet 7-7 to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester where he is currently receiving treatment for head, neck and leg injuries.

The NYSP were assisted at the scene by the Independence Police and Ambulance, Whitesville Fire Dept. and the Wellsville Ambulance.
