Ralph Bizzaro, 95, of Columbus, OH, formerly of Bradford, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the Westminster-Thurber Community, Columbus, OH.
He was born on October 28, 1917 in Smethport, a son of the late Anthony and Marianonnae Cucuzza Bizzaro.
On May 1, 1943 in the St. Bernard Catholic Church, he married Geraldine M. Vicere, who passed away on June 17, 2008.
He was employed by the Dresser Manufacturing Company for over forty five years; retiring in 1982.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II; having served in the Pacific Theater. While in the army he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his actions in the Philippines.
He was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the La Stella Lodge, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and a member of the Ramblers Association for many years. He was an associate member of the Marche club and he volunteered for the Bradford Area United Way for a number of years. He loved to play golf in his younger years and he just enjoyed being outdoors.
He is survived by two sons, Tom (Ann) Bizzaro, Carmel, IN, Pat (Bonnie) Bizzaro, Columbus, OH, one sister, Josephine Petillo, Bradford, three granddaughters, Amelia Bizzaro, Milwaukee, WI, Sarah Bizzaro, Carmel, IN, Lindsay (Bill) Eiseman, Columbus, OH, two great grandchildren, Ethan and Emma, Carmel, IN and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Marion Luzzi and five brothers, Pat Bizzaro, Ben Bizzaro, Mike Bizzaro, Frank Bizzaro and Tony Bizzaro.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday at the St. Bernard Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Gramata as celebrant. A Christian wake service will be held at 4:45 PM Sunday in the funeral home.
Entombment and military honors will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
Members of the LaStella Lodge will call as a group at 3:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the St. Bernard School, 450 West Washington St., Bradford, PA 16701.
