Ralph J. Shirey, 67, of Coudersport, PA, formerly of York, PA

Ralph J. Shirey, 67, of Coudersport, PA, formerly of York, PA died unexpectedly Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport.

Born on February 2, 1945 in York, he was the son of Ralph and Margaret Gladfelter Shirey. On March 29, 2002 in Leesburg, VA he married Nettie “Dusty” Cummins Staley who survives.

Mr. Shirey was a 1963 graduate of West York High School and had worked for 42 years with Standard Register in York, retiring in 2007.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his mother, Margaret Shirey of York, two sons, Mike Shirey of Lancaster, PA and Jeffrey Shirey of York, two step-children, Susie Hake and Wes Graham, both of York, five grandchildren, three brothers, Tony, Randy and Todd Shirey, all of York, and one sister, Lisa Myers of York. He is also survived by one nephew. 

He was preceded in death by his father.

At Mr. Shirey’s request there will be no visitation or service. Memorial contributions may be made to a local chapter of the American Heart Association.
