Route 6 emergency pipe replacement east of Mansfield starts next week
A deep drainage pipe east of Mansfield in Richmond Township, Tioga County will be replaced starting Nov. 12. The replacement is required as a result of damage incurred by storm waters from Hurricane Sandy.
This project will include replacement of the existing pipe, slope stabilization, paving work and upgraded guiderail.
Route 6 will be detoured for approximately four weeks while the work is under way.
A signed detour route will be used. Eastbound traffic will be detoured onto South Main Street in Mansfield, Canoe Camp Creek Road, East Hill Road, Old State Road and Mainsburg Road. Westbound traffic will be detoured onto Elk Run Road, North Elk Run Road and Route 549.
The detour is scheduled to go into effect on Nov. 12; motorists should plan to use the signed detour route until work is completed.
Route 6 is expected to be opened to traffic by Dec. 8.
