Natural Gas Workshop, “Already Leased? What are my Options?”

Penn State Cooperative Extension will be holding a natural gas workshop, “Already Leased? What are my Options?” on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the Coudersport Volunteer Fire Hall, 171 Rt. 6 West, Coudersport, PA 16915 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM.

Presenters will include Jon Laughner, co-chairman of the Penn State Extension Education Team, Dan Brockett with the Penn State Marcellus Education Team and attorneys knowledgeable in oil and gas leasing. Discussion will include shale gas exploration and leasing in northcentral Pennsylvania, with a question and answer period following the discussion.

Natural gas drillers have been producing the fuel from "conventional" gas reservoirs for over 150 years. New shale gas production techniques have opened much wider areas for exploration, including the Marcellus, Utica, and Upper Devonian Shale formations. Many landowners in Northern Pennsylvania may have their property leased for the purposes of conventional gas production, but may be approached to have their lease amended in order to meet unit size standards or other conditions of unconventional shale gas production. This Workshop is intended to help landowners under lease to understand what their options might be if shale gas production is going to occur

Registration is required by registering online at http://agsci.psu.edu/shale-lease-options/coudersport or by calling 814-887-5613. There will be a $15 fee per person. Participants will have a greater understanding of the shale gas exploration impacts in the area and the needs to consider as a landowner and community member with property held in the area.
