Anna M. South, 77, of 27 Pleasant St., Bradford, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012, surrounded by her loving family, at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born on September 6, 1935, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Harold E. and Ena (Hardy) Ackley.
On July 14, 1951 in Bradford, she married Howard B. South, who died May 12, 2001.
She attended Bradford High School. She was a member of the Moose Auxiliary and the VFW.
She enjoyed singing, cooking and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. South had worked as a Home Care Nurse for the Smethport VNA for many years retiring in 1993 to take care of her husband.
Surviving are two sons, Rex (Tressa) South, of Bradford, Joe (Mary) McMahon of Kane, three daughter in laws, Sharon South, Joann South and Laurie South all of Bradford, three sisters, Violet Buchanan, of Russell, Margie McCormack and Rose Pire both of Bradford, two brothers, Clifford H. Ackley, of Bradford, Bob Ackley, of Bath, NY. eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons, Randy, Roger and Rodney South and five brothers.
Family will be receiving friends on Friday, December 21, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. East Main St., at which time funeral and committal services will be held with Rev. Leon Canfield, pastor First Baptist Church officiating.
