Bolivar Native, A Famed Criminologist, Charged By Troopers For Inappropriate Photos Of 11 Year Old Girl

Bolivar native and world renowned criminologist Herbert L. MacDonell, of Corning, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

State police at Painted Post charged MacDonell, 84, in response to a report to the state child abuse hotline that concerned MacDonell’s behavior while photographing an 11-year-old female at his residence on September 22, 2012.

The arrest was based on inappropriate photographs of the female obtained by investigators, according to a New York State Police news release.

MacDonell, inventor of the first modern comprehensive fingerprinting kit, has published several books on evidence analysis and testified at criminal and civil trials all over the world.  He will answer the Misdemeanor charge Dec. 31 in Town of Corning Court.
