New Route 249 bridge in Tioga County opens to traffic Dec. 19
Keeneyville residents are about to have a new, modern bridge to cross over Losey Creek when traveling Route 249 in Middlebury Township, Tioga County.
The new bridge will be placed into service this Wednesday, Dec. 19 in the afternoon.
Traffic has been using a temporary bridge and roadway during the construction.
Once the new bridge is open, the 12’-width restriction that has been in place during construction will be lifted.
There will be a need for further traffic restrictions under single-lane conditions controlled by daylight signing/flagging while finishing work and removal of the temporary are under way. All work should be completed later in January.
The new bridge was built on the existing alignment, including new pavement and guide rail.
The previous 48’-long bridge was built in 1932. It was classified as structurally deficient.
