PITT-BRADFORD CONTINUING EDUCATION AND REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO OFFER COURSES FOR TRAINING AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Division of Continuing Education and Regional Development will offer classes this spring ranging from training to workforce development.

The courses begin Jan. 23 with Excel 1 from 8 a.m. to noon in Room 200 of the Seneca Building at 2 Main St., Bradford. The course, which is offered again from 1 to 5 p.m. March 6, covers developing formulas, cell referencing, basic formatting and working with worksheets. The cost is $65 for those signing up more than two weeks in advance (early bird pricing) and $75 after that.

The popular OSHA mini-safety series begins with Construction 29 CFR 1926 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Jan. 24 at the Seneca Building. The class will cover the elements of construction site activities: fall protection, personal protective equipment, excavation and trenching, scaffolding, safety and health training, company programs and more. Cost is $32.

Excel 2 will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 6 or 1 to 5 p.m. March 20 in the Seneca Building. Cost is $65 for early birds, $75 for regular pricing. The course will teach more advanced functions, more complicated formulas and list processing.

Microsoft Word 1 will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Feb. 6 in the Seneca Building. Cost is $65 for early birds, $75 for regular pricing. Learn to use MS Word 2010 and get an overview of Word.

Microsoft Word 2 will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Seneca Building. Cost is $65 for early birds, $75 for regular pricing. Advance your skills in MS Word 2010.

Microsoft Access 2010 Basic will be held from 8 a.m. to noon March 6 in the Seneca Building. Cost is $65 for early birds, $75 for regular pricing. Learn about understanding relational databases, terms and concepts; field types; data types; and naming rules and conventions.

Fundraising and the Nonprofit Board: Helping Your Board Reach its Full Potential will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 7 in the Seneca Building. Cost is $49 for early birds, $59 for regular pricing. Learn ways to overcome fundraising fears with a toolkit just for board members.

Innovative Marketing Strategies for Small Business will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. March 13 in the Seneca Building. Cost is $49 for early birds, $59 for regular pricing. This course will cover new marketing ideas and inspire new techniques that can be incorporated immediately into a business plan.

Microsoft Access 2010 Intermediate will be held from 8 a.m. to noon March 20 in the Seneca Building. Cost is $65. Learn about multiple tables, table relationships, creating queries, forms, sub-forms, reports from multiple tables, and creating lookup fields and tables.

Grant Writing Basics will be held from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 26 in the Seneca Building. Cost is $59 for early birds, $69 for regular pricing. This class will provide basic information to those who are new to grant writing or to those who need a refresher in grant writing.

The second offering in the OSHA mini-safety series will be Recordkeeping 29 CFR 1901 and the 2013 Update, which will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon April 4 in the Seneca Building. The class will provide instructions on how to complete the OSHA 300, 300A Summary and 301 incident report and will go over 2013 updates to OSHA regulations. The cost is $32.

Grant Writing: Budgeting will take place from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. April 9 in the Seneca Building. Cost is $59 for early birds, $69 for regular pricing. Receive information and sample budget preparation for state, federal and foundation grants.

Stretching Your Nonprofit Staff: Volunteer Recruitment, Management and Retention will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 11 in the Seneca Building. Cost is $49 for early birds, $59 for regular pricing. Learn how to best use volunteers to stretch your already-stretched staff in these tough economic times of shrinking budgets and increased workloads.
