Possible Water Leak In Roulette Water System

The Roulette Township water system has been experiencing an increasingly higher than normal amount of water consumption over the course of the past couple of weeks.

This excessive amount does not appear to be normal consumption, but rather a possible leak in the system. Our workers have been attempting to locate the source of the problem, but have not yet been able to make any definitive determinations.

We ask that if anyone notices an area near their home, or just in passing, that seems to stay abnormally wet or water flowing in a yard that seems unusual, to please contact the township office at 814-544-7549 during normal business hours to report it. We will send someone out to investigate it as soon as possible.

We are hoping that it is not in the basement of a seasonal residence and has just gone undiscovered at this point.

Could this be why the water bills have been higher lately?? I have no leaks by the way...I've already checked thoroughly due to an unexplained increase in my water/sewage bill.

No, you only get charged for the water that is running through "your" meter.

This, or any leak that is not after your meter have no bearing at all on anyone's water bill. Your bill is based on how much water goes through your meter. It does affect how much it costs us to process the water due to increased pumping times and chemical treatment. If you have higher than normal consumption at your house, call the office and we will send someone out to check it for you at no charge.

You know, I wonder if that is not why there is a big pond of water down by Route 6 next to where they patched the bridge across from the park? Could be from the creek flooding or water run off, but has it really rained that much?

This leak has absolutely no effect on YOUR bill. If you have concerns as to the amount of your bill, you may direct those concerns to the Township Secretary or any of the Township Supervisors.

Thank you December 15, 2012 9:10:00 AM EST. That is just the kind of statement we are looking for.

The area you speak of was noted on a driven inspection of the town Friday. That area has a tendency to hold water from rain and creek overflow, but as you stated, it seems suspicious. The water lines that service that area don't come close to that spot, but we're going to look into it anyway just to be sure.

Thank you,
