fracpicture2A program on the water impacts of shale gas development will be offered on the internet Thursday, Dec. 20, from 1-2 pm. Featured presenter for the webinar, titled “Shale Energy and Water Impacts: A Review of Recently Published Research,” is David Yoxtheimer, a hydrogeologist with Penn State’s Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research. Those planning to participate in the free webinar should log onto a secure website, https://meeting.psu.edu/pscems. The sign-in process can take several minutes, so the organizers encourage participants to start early. Questions should be referred to Carol Loveland at cal24@psu.edu.

Upcoming webinars include: Jan. 17, America’s New Industrial Revolution: A Renaissance for U.S. Chemical Manufacturing, discussing ethane cracker plants; and Feb. 21, Science Behind Best Management Practices, spotlighting the Nature Conservancy Development by Design project. Each will run from 1-2 pm. Previous webinars, publications and information also are available on the Penn State Extension natural gas website, http://extension.psu.edu/naturalgas.

Potter County Natural Gas Resource Center will be holding a public meeting on water issues related to shale gas drilling early next year. Details will be announced.
