1300 Tioga County Penelec Customers Will Be In The Dark At Midnight

1300 Tioga County Penelec Customers Will Be In The Dark At Midnight

Reported by: Sam Smink
MANSFIELD, Pa. (WETM-TV) -- Around 1300 Penelec customers in Tioga County will be in the dark starting around midnight.

Penelec Management says workers discovered a problem in one of their substations a few weeks ago.

So they have to turn the lights off temporarily in Mansfield Borough and surroundings areas to fix the problem.

They expect the project to take only around two hours.

Customers have been notified through an automated voice system.

Though some who depend on electric heating may be worried if the night gets cold.

For that, management has some advice.

"We recognize that it will get cold. Make sure they have an extra blanket during the night. If you have a secondary source, like propane, make sure to have that available,” said Judy Place.

Place says the company could not wait for warmer temperatures to begin work, as it is an immediate problem that needs to be fixed.
