Update: At the same time announcement took place, employees received a memo that some will lose their jobs -- even though most of them had already gone home.

After two months of a stirring debate over a bid to take over the Pennsylvania Lottery's management, Gov. Tom Corbett has decided to take the plunge to become the third state in the nation to privatize its lottery's management.

His administration announced to lottery employees at 4:23 p.m. that a notice of intention to award a contract to United Kingdom-based Camelot Global Services for the private firm to take over running the 42-year-old lottery operation. Most lottery employees work until 4 p.m.  Read more...

This is bullshit, a clear ruse to deunionize yet another group of people. Let's outsource our govering body!!!
Think how much we'll save by NOT paying lifetime checks and benefits to these dinks and their families!
It can't be any worse! Let's contract with NY or Cali to run our state, maybe Mexico, taking a page from One Term Tom.

Outsourcing will certainly increase the number of unemployed in PA -- where is our Governor?

Certainly not looking out and caring for residents of PA. Let's quit the lottery and go to an Indian Casino.

Tommy Boy,

THANK YOU for continuing to make a jag-off of yourself and screw Pennsylvanians in favor of big-money interests! It's making me look better and better every day!

Love,

@ Friday, January 11, 2013 7:54:00 PM EST: You have the right idea. I will Boycott and I would hope others will also.. There is power in numbers...

Sleezy, dumb, heartless. Must be he wants to run for Prez in 2016.

I will no longer buy lottery tickets. Why can't our State and our Nation take care of our own?

WHERE IS PAUL REVERE WHEN YOU NEED HIM?? THE BRITISH ARE COMING!! THE BRITISH ARE COMING!!!

@10:04 I know you can write, but can you read? There is NO guarentee that the lottery will be more profttable. These people may or may not be hired, and the jobs they are being fired from are much more beneficial to their families (insurance, pension, job security) than they would be working for a British firm. Would you like your job to be outsourced to a cheaper company from outside the US?

It will still benefit older Pennsylvanian's..this is what the lottery is all about. Why are you all mad? Stop being so selfish! Think about the elderly!

He is once again lining his pockets just like he has done with the gas and oil folks. He cares nothing about the Pennsylvania jobs or lack of them, our enviroment or the ruination of our clean water. He cares about nothing but himself. One term is all it takes to set yourself up for life. And then he has health care for life to boot....He is smiling his way to the bank.

DEMOCRAT....ENOUGH SAID

I wish the election was right now. We cannot get this man out of office soon enough. He is bent on destroying the Commonwealth. If polluted water won't do it, then maybe eliminating jobs for many and eliminating money for seniors will. He works for big business...whatever will put more money in his pockets. He does not give a damn about Pennsylvania or its citizens.

You have GOT to be kidding!! It will benefit the elderly? REALLY!? That's a laugh. All our government does is SCREW the elderly. Got a raise in my social security and guess what? Medicare went up! THAT's looking out for the elderly, isn't it? The elderly are always too easy to pick on. Shame on you Corbett and all of your cronies. Hope you all burn in hell! Because that is where you are going.

The Brits own Morgan AM@T and employ around 200 people. Seems these workers have no problems working for the Brits.

This is 10:04 again. If it was private industry we have no say anyways but all these government jobs that we all pay for after we work our own jobs are what are breaking the citizens backs. Our taxes pay these salaries and they are accountable to no one. Plus the only people I see buying tickets are on welfare. Oh there we pay again...

!0:04, are you on crack? Government jobs are breaking the citizens' backs? What kind of nonsensical drivel is that? So you ARE in favor of outsourcing our government? Let's let NY or WV do it for us, we'd save billions!!! People need to THINK before they hit the 'publish' button. Damn redneck retards!
