‘Do Not Call’ List Cuts Telemarketing Calls
Pennsylvania
Attorney General Linda Kelly is reminding telephone customers that
they can limited the number of unsolicited calls they receive by
signing up for the Do Not Call Program. A list of phone numbers is
updated and provided to telemarketers on a quarterly basis.
Telemarketers in Pennsylvania are required to purchase this list and
must remove every name on it within 30 days. If they don’t, they can be
fined up to $3,000. If they get caught a second time, the sanctions
are stiffer. There are two ways to register your home phone and cell phone numbers. You can call 1-888-382-1222 or you can visit the website, https://www.donotcall.gov/ You will be asked to give your name, address, zip code and phone number.
Exceptions are made for calls in response to a consumer’s previously expressed request; calls made in reference to a debt, contract, payment or performance; established business relationships and calls made on behalf of a tax-exempt charitable or fraternal organization, veterans organization, political group or candidate.

What a joke that list is. We have been on that list for years and it doesn't work. They still keep calling and they don't fit into any of those exempt categories. Of course if you tell them you are on the do not call list they immediately hang up but then they call again from another number. Some of their numbers are blocked and you can't see it to report it.
We registered on this site and have not had telemarketers calling us since. However this does not include the Republican Party- either state or National. My husband is still a registered Republican so we get dozens of calls from them each year. Each time I asked them why they call us when we registered with the NO CAll SYSTEM and they all say "Oh, we exempt. So apparently the bigwigs can pass this law and yet they can still make the calls. Something's wrong with this picture
