Trailers for Matt Damon's anti-fracking feature film "Promised Land," which opened in Harrisburg Friday morning, suggested a taut moral drama focused on the front lines - the farmlands of Pennsylvania - of the Marcellus shale gas boom. 
Unfortunately, the film just doesn't live up to the promise. There's nothing taut or dramatic in a film so thoroughly predictable. Even the big surprise plot twist at the end could be anticipated by most anyone over the age of 10. Read more...

Very fine movie review and social commentary. Gotta figure if Hollywood and Damon were involved it would be slanted and predictable. And it's not unusual for rural people to be portrayed as bumpkins. I don't suspect this flick will light up the box office.
