Eleane F. “Ellie” Monroe, 77, of Coudersport, PA died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at her home following a lengthy illness.

Born on October 10, 1935 in Shunk, PA, Sullivan County, she was the daughter of Chester and Agnes Morgan Brown. On August 16, 1952 in Strasburg, PA she married Clyde L. Rohrer, who passed away on June 19, 2001. On August 4, 2005 she married Ronald Gale Monroe who survives.

Mrs. Monroe was employed for many years at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s aide and later as a transport aide and she was also a volunteer. She was a member and past worthy matron of Eulalia Chapter #148 Order of Eastern Star. She also attended the Coudersport Gospel Tabernacle.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her four children, Clyde N. (Linda) Rohrer, Sonja D. (John) Wright, and Randy K. (Belinda) Rohrer, all of Coudersport, PA, Brenda S. (Gary) Dunn of Orlando, FL, three step-children, Bryan (Ann) Monroe of Lititz, PA, Stewart Monroe of North Carolina, and Janell Saulter of Shinglehouse, PA, fourteen grandchildren, five step grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, eight step great-grandchildren, two brothers, Richard (Joanne) Brown of Canton, PA, and Robert (Sally) Brown of Williamsport, PA, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, and a granddaughter, Teresita Ann “Tessie” Dunn, who died on July 5, 2002.

The family will receive friends at the Coudersport Gospel Tabernacle on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 5:00pm – 6:00pm at which time a memorial service will be held with Reverend David Minor, Sr. officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Sweden Hill Cemetery.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the Patterson Cancer Center or to the American Cancer Society Potter Unit, 1001 E. Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16915. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fickinger Funeral Home, a Life Celebration Home, of Coudersport.
