Galeton Presbyterian Church News 1-20-12

Galeton Presbyterian Church News 1-20-12

by Martha Pennell, mpennell@northernpottersd.org

The wind is blowing fiercely on the second Sunday after the Epiphany, 1-20-13, and Pastor Tom likes it because he feels it is like the Holy Spirit blowing through the church!

Please remember that all committee and treasurer reports are due to the office as soon as possible for Robin to prepare for the Congregational meeting on January 27, 2013, after worship. The Deacons met after church. It was decided to create another raffle basket to benefit residents of Cole Long Term Care.

The Deacons will also meet on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 9 am in the kitchen of the Christian Education building to make a large pot of chicken soup. The soup will be frozen in one quart containers to be available for delivery to church members that have recently been discharged from the hospital.

For any pastoral concerns and prayers please contact Pastor Shatto by email: patandtomshatto@pa.net; phone 435-2882, or cell phone 570-367-0041.

According to John 2: 1-11, at a marriage feast in Cana, Mary, mother of Jesus, told the servants to do as Jesus instructed them. In his sermon that followed the scriptures, “Wedding Life,” Pastor Shatto explained that Jesus chose a wedding feast to reveal his power. Marriage, according to Pastor Tom, is a mirror image of God’s relationship to each and every person. We are married to God and need direction and guidance to stay lined up with him. We need to do what Mary suggested at the wedding in Cana; listen to Jesus to get to heaven.

Pastor Tom suggests we read him, study him, look at his image, look up at him in awe and listen. No better advice was ever given. Keep his commandments. Forgive. Walk the walk. Emanate love wherever you go.

We are invited and the procession is coming right through here! Take the leap! Fall back onto the Savior and do what he tells us. That is how to get to the very courts of God. We’re marching to Zion!
