All dogs, cats, and ferrets that are at least 12 weeks old can be vaccinated against the rabies virus. The first time a dog or cat receives a vaccine, it is good for one year. Each time after that, the vaccination is good for three years. Ferrets must be vaccinated annually. All animals attending the clinic must be on a leash or in a container. Cost is $5.00 per animal. The clinic is sponsored by Dr. Lindsay Schwartzmeyer of the Potter County Veterinary Clinic, LLC.

Wellsboro, PA – The Animal Care Sanctuary is hosting a rabies vaccine clinic on Valentine’s Day, Thursday, February 14th, from 2 pm to 5pm. First come, first served, and payment is $5.00 for the one year vaccine.

Our Community Care Clinic offers frequent specials for low-cost spay/neuter of cats and dogs as well as vaccines and boosters. Making it possible for lower income families to take advantage of proper pet care is one of our goals. Economic strains make it difficult for people in our area to provide adequate care to four-legged family members, but now they have a place to come to get that care at affordable prices. The clinic is located in the white house on Route 6, the first building along the driveway. Please use the side entrance off the side porch.

Dr. Alaire Smith-Miller says, “Inoculating your pets against rabies is required by law, and we live in an area with lots of wildlife who can carry it and who can interact with our pets.
So keep your pet, and your human family safe.”

“It’s important for our shelter animals to gain visibility and exposure so we may find them forever, loving homes. The Community Care Clinic is just one a several avenues that can provide revenue for our shelter animals. All proceeds from the clinic, our groom room, our small pet retail store, as well as adoptions go right back to benefit the shelter animals. ACS oversees their well-being, and assures they have a good quality of life while they are in our care. Each animal is one of our own that we love, and we want to extend that feeling through community outreach to all local animal lovers, “said Joan Smith-Reese, executive director for ACS.

Everyone is encouraged to attend the Have a Heart Rabies Clinic on Valentine’s Day, 11765 Route 6, across from Weis from 2 pm to 5pm. $5/shot. Thank you for your support.
