Jack Alviti, 84, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, of 657 West Corydon Street, Bradford, PA, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013, at Bradford Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Born August 19, 1928 in Bradford, he was a son of the late Lorenzo and Olimpia (Chicotti) Alviti. He attended Bradford High School.

On April 7, 1951 in St. Bernard Church, he married Norma (Fennell) Alviti who survives him.
On October 23, 1951 he enlisted in the United States Army. He served in Korea with the 5th Infantry Division, 85th Truck Battalion, and was honorably discharged and awarded a Certificate of Achievement as a Corporal on July 22, 1953.

Following his military service he worked for 20 years at Dresser Manufacturing. He left Dressers and went to work at PV Paving Company eventually buying the company. Upon his retirement, he turned the business over to his son, Mike.

He was a member of St. Bernard Church, the Pine Acres Golf Club, and was active in Bowling Leagues. Devoted to his children and grandchildren he stayed active in their lives by attending all school events and sporting events including baseball, basketball, football, wrestling and even cheerleading. His favorite pastime was visiting Willow Creek, where he grew up.

Jack, along with Joe Varatta started the Bradford Youth Basketball League in 1965. They provided the league the monies to pay for the insurance and buy the uniforms. He did this out of his love for kids and the community. He was a coach for BYBL and Midget League Football for over 8 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife Norma of 61 years, are two daughters, Sharon (Alton) Hollebeke, of Bradford, and Allison (Lloyd) Ambrose, of Bradford, one son, John Michael (Brenda) Alviti, of Bradford, one sister, Sylvia (Ottario) Vigliotti, of Bradford, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Lawrence Alviti, and three sisters Elvira Pascarella, Liberata Pace, and Ida Lipps.

Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday January 29, 2013 from 2-4 pm & 7-9pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. East Main St., where a prayer service will be held Wednesday at 11:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Noon in St. Bernard Church, with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor as Celebrant. Military Honors and committal services will be in St. Bernard Cemetery at the Alviti family Mausoleum.
