Kane VFD Reports On Structure Fire Monday

Kane Volunteer Fire Department

Jan 21, 2013 17:56

McKean 5 was dispatched at 17:56 for a possible chimney fire at 422 Chase Street.

Upon arrival Chief 5 advised McKean County Dispatch that smoke was showing and flames were visible from the attic window. Also Chief 5 requested McKean County to upgrade chimney fire to a working structure fire.

Chief 5 also requested Engine 101 from Station 10 Mt. Jewett to the scene with manpower. Tower 5 was the first unit to respond and took orders to take the address. Engine 56 was the next piece of apparatus to respond and took the hydrant at Haines and Chase St. and laid 5 inch supply line into Tower 5. Engine 58 and Rescue 51 responded with man power.

The fire was extinguished and units returned to station at 20:15.

Station 26 was dispatched to stand by at Station 5 with an engine and crew. MA 5 staged at Chase St. and Easton street for fire stand by.

There were no reported injuries to any firefighters or any persons occupying the residence. Kane Borough Street Department went to the scene and spread anti-skid around the scene due to the water and frigid temperatures. Kane Police Department was on location and assisted with traffic control as well.
