Michael Wennin To Present "Wood on Glass" At Sinnemahoning State Park On February 2nd

Saturday, February 2nd, 2013

1:00 PM - Big Woods and Box Cameras:
The Technique and Equipment of
“Wood on Glass”

Sinnemahoning State Park is pleased to host Michael Wennin, Executive Director of the Lumber Heritage Region, who will present a program about the “Wood on Glass” Exhibit at the Wildlife Center at Sinnemahoning on Saturday, February 2, at 1:00 PM.

“Wood on Glass,” an exhibit on display at the Wildlife Center through February 28th, 2013, consists of photographs by little known and long forgotten itinerant photographer William T. Clarke (1859-1930), a Rochester, NY native who chronicled the lumber industry and its dramatic impact on north central Pennsylvania during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Clarke’s evocative legacy is showcased in “Wood on Glass” with custom prints made from glass plate negatives, most now housed at the Pennsylvania State Archives and others in private hands.

In addition, Mr. Wennin will explain the workings of a 1901 Korona Dry Plate Camera- the process used by Clarke to take these exquisite photographs.

This is the only planned venue in Cameron County to display the exhibit as the collection tours around the region, so do not missed this opportunity to see the collection.

If you need an accommodation to participate in park activities due to a disability, please contact the Pennsylvania Bureau of State Parks: (888) PA-PARKS (voice), (888) 537-7294 (TTY), (717) 558-2711 (local or international TTY), (800) 654-5984 (PA AT&T Relay Service). With at least three days notice, interpreters for people who are deaf or hard of hearing are available for educational programs. For more information visit our web site at www.dcnr.state.pa.us
