PHOTOGRAPHY AROUND THE WORLD EXHIBIT TO FEATURE LOCAL ARTISTS

PHOTOGRAPHY AROUND THE WORLD EXHIBIT TO FEATURE LOCAL ARTISTS

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will hold a photography exhibition featuring the work of students, faculty, staff and area residents, Jan. 11 through Jan. 25 in the KOA Art Gallery in Blaisdell Hall.

“Photography Around the World” will open with a reception at noon Jan. 11. Photo submissions are being accepted from students, staff, faculty or residents who live within 30 miles of Bradford. Photos may be any size and taken anywhere in the world, including the United States. Include contact information on the back of the photo(s) as well as when and where the shot was taken.

Those interested in being part of the exhibition should drop off matted or framed photos by Jan. 8 at the Bromeley Theater Box Office in Blaisdell Hall. The box office is open from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Photos can be picked up from the box office during the week of Jan. 27.

“The idea for this exhibit came from when I was in Japan last May with our students on a cultural exchange trip,” said Kristin Asinger, director of international studies and a visiting instructor of sports medicine.

“The students were so into taking great shots at wonderful angles that I thought about ways to share these great photos. I hope that many study- abroad and international students take part in this exhibit.”

Julie Dykstra, administrative assistant to the dean of academic affairs, and students from the Panthers Around the World student club will assist with the display.

For more information, contact Asinger at kaa54@pitt.edu or (814)362-5154.

For disability-related needs, contact the Office of Disability Resources and Service at (814)362-7609 or clh71@pitt.edu.

The attached photo was taken by Kristin Asinger, director of international studies and visiting instructor of sports medicine, while leading a student trip to Japan last summer. It is one of the photos that will be included in the ‘Photography Around the World’ exhibition at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford beginning next Friday.
