Route 287 resurfacing project in Tioga County starts today

Route 287 resurfacing project in Tioga County starts today

A roadway rehabilitation project along 4.3 miles of Route 287 in Morris Township, Tioga County is scheduled to start today, Jan. 9.

HRI, Inc. will be working along Route 287 from the Lycoming/Tioga County line to just north of the intersection with Route 414 in the town of Morris.

Motorists are asked to stay alert and drive with added caution.

Initial work this winter will involve repairing a washout and stabilizing the stream bank near Hurley Hill Road. Traffic may encounter single-lane conditions controlled with flaggers and daylight signing while the contractor stabilizes the bank.

When the roadway rehabilitation portion of the project begins in the spring, traffic will be restricted to a single lane through the work zone with flaggers and daylight signing controlling traffic flow.

Work will include road shoulder upgrades, roadway base replacement, drainage upgrades, bridge preservation work, two new layers of blacktop and guiderail upgrades.

All work under this $ 1,733,513 contract is scheduled for completion in mid-August.
